The most important thing about any church is what it believes. Our beliefs are based on the Bible and this page contains a link to a site where you can hear the Bible being read. You can also read a short summary of the gospel as it is contained in the Scriptures.
The Confession of Faith produced by the Westminster Assembly (1643-1648) is our church’s ‘subordinate standard’, the Bible being our supreme standard. Office-bearers subscribe to the Confession as “the confession of my faith.” The Confession has thirty-three chapters covering the range of biblical doctrine from Scripture to the Last Judgment. You can read the Confession here.
You can also study the Assembly’s Shorter and Larger Catechisms. After each question and answer of the Shorter Catechism is a summary of the teaching by Alexander Paterson.
Finally you can read two other important documents which were prepared by the Assembly: the Directory for the Publick Worship of God and the Form of Presbyterial Church-Government.
