Q.23. What offices doth Christ excecute as our Redeemer?
A. Christ, as our Redeemer, executeth the offices of a prophet, of a priest, and of a king, both in his estate of humiliation and exaltation.[t]

We are here taught,
1. That Jesus Christ, as our Redeemer, executeth the office of a prophet.
2. That Jesus Christ executeth the office of a priest.
3. That Jesus Christ executeth the office of a king.
4. That these offices belong both to his state of humiliation and to his state of exaltation.
Q.24. How doth Christ execute the office of a prophet?
A. Christ executeth the office of a prophet, in revealing to us, by his word and Spirit, the will of God for our salvation.[v]

We are here taught,
1. That Christ, as a prophet, reveals to us the will of God.
2. That Christ reveals the will of God by his Word and Spirit.
3. That the purpose for which Christ reveals to men the will of God, is their eternal salvation.
Q.25. How doth Christ execute the office of a priest?
A. Christ executeth the office of a priest, in his once offering up of himself a sacrifice to satisfy divine justice,[w] and reconcile us to God;[x] and in making continual intercession for us.[y]

We are here taught,
1. That Christ, as our priest, offered himself in sacrifice to God.
2. That Christ, as our priest, offered himself in sacrifice but once.
3. That Christ offered himself to satisfy divine justice for our sins.
4. That Christ offered up himself to reconcile us to God.
5. That Christ, as our priest, maketh continual intercession for us.
Q.26. How doth Christ execute the ofiice of a king?
A. Christ executeth the office of a king, in subduing us to himself,[z] in ruling[a] and defending us,[b] and in restraining and conquering all his and our enemies.[c]

We are here taught,
1. That Christ, as a king, subdues his people to himself.
2. That Christ, as a king, rules his people.
3. That Christ, as a king, defends his people.
4. That Christ, as a king, restrains all his and his people’s enemies.
5. That Christ, as a king, conquers and destroys all his own and his people’s enemies.
